About Us

Monster Maw is a 7-person independent studio of international game developers. We met in a game jam, stayed for the work — and we've been building together ever since.

We care about tight mechanics, player-driven stories, and worlds that feel alive even when you're alone in them. Small team, no filler — just games we actually want to play.

Loot of the Dead

Jacksepticeye Game Jam

Monster Maw started here. Seven strangers from around the world — one weekend, one prototype, a top 10% finish. We liked the way we worked together too much to stop.

We jam often. Future entries will show up here.

Monster Maw ("we", "us", or "our") is an independent game development studio. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our website (monstermaw.com) or interact with any of our games, including Oceanbound and any future releases.

1. Information We Collect

We aim to collect as little personal data as possible. The types of information that may be collected include:

  • Website Data: Basic analytics such as page views, referring URLs, browser type and approximate location. This is used only to understand site traffic.
  • Contact Information: If you contact us by email, we will have your email address and the contents of your message. We only use this to reply to you.
  • Game Data: Once our games are released, they may collect device information (OS, hardware), gameplay telemetry (session length, progression, crashes) and, where applicable, Steam account identifiers needed to run the game. This will be updated in the game's own privacy policy at launch.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve our website and games;
  • Diagnose bugs, crashes, and technical issues;

  • Understand how our games are being played so we can make them better;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Third-Party Services

Our games and website may use third-party services that collect limited information on our behalf, such as Steam (for game distribution and account identifiers), game engines and their telemetry, and standard web analytics. Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them.

4. Children's Privacy

Our games are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We keep collected data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle your request. Gameplay telemetry is typically retained for up to 24 months, after which it is aggregated or deleted.
